Errata for Sechs Choralpartiten

NOTE: this book has been replaced by a revised second edition in which cautionary accidentals have been added, all known errors have been corrected, awkward page turns have been eliminated, and other improvements have been made to the score.

The following is a list of all known errors in Sechs Choralpartiten (first edition). If you have found an error not listed here, please report it.

The edition published on IMSLP (landscape orientation) does not contain cautionary accidentals and those omissions are not listed here (too numerous to list). Real errors occur in the form of missing accidentals, missing ties, wrongly-spelled notes, and wrong notes (wrongly positioned). Errors of these types are listed below, so far as they are known. Please note that the page numbers below correspond to the printed book (A4 portrait), not the landscape score on IMSLP.

Alle Menschen müssen sterben, i. Präludium — p.14, m.72 quarter note B-flat in the alto.

Alle Menschen müssen sterben, iv. Choral im Alt — p.19, m.19 sixteenth rest in the soprano.

Alle Menschen müssen sterben, vi. Choral Umkehrung mit Kanon — p.22, m.38 E-flat should be tied over the bar.

Alle Menschen müssen sterben, ix. Fughetta mit Choral im Bass — p.29, m.64 Eighth notes A F in the tenor.

Von Gott will ich nicht lassen, i. Präludium — [1] p.33, m.12-13 three ties are missing in the lower voices.

[2] p.34, m.21 16th note C is missing in the tenor.

Von Gott will ich nicht lassen, iv. Choral im Alt — p.38, m.1 the first note in the soprano should be D, not Eb.

[2] p.132, m.27 the short trill belongs on the alto voice, not the soprano.
